Awesome Custom Bike Spotted on Market Street, San Francisco March 5, 2009

I was working security at my stepdaughter’s Girl Scout cookies corner when this awesome bike rode past. I flagged down the owner and made him pose with it at gunpoint.
The maker, Raymond Duarte, is an AV technician for a large screen video imaging company who didn’t mind stopping for a stranger and spending five minutes describing this little treasure (while he was stopped, four other people came up and took his picture).
There isn’t a visible screw thread on it. The wiring for the lights is entirely internal. He has patented lighting fixtures (must look that up). All the detailing is in twisted steel with chrome plating (including the chain guard!).
The wheels seem to be anodized aluminum (must check with him about this). And there’s a spare which is as sweet as the bike itself:
I could go on forever, but it is 12:45am, and I have been selling GS cookies for two days and I need rest.
I did get back to this and posted a stitched-together view of the beast:

Somebody will get my gender figured out eventually. Maybe when they stop just quoting the makezine.com blog I submitted this to.
